Chlorine

from the
edge in heat-sealed into flesh gazing on flat
tiles. compacted to shine the lane snakes

along behind
briefer lives cease buzzing the sifters from the
cracks blooms their dirt. sunny striation crazes

the base
of the basin. in the gnats’ eyes we
are perhaps just a polyp flailing around

but that
is deceptive. immeasurably cleanly crashing together we become
two smooth brown stones sparking off nothing.
